After The Flood - Nature Paints With Water Colors

If there is a lesson in all this water for a farmer, it might be that you have almost no control over your farm. You can observer, learn, prepare, and guide, but you're not in control.

Maybe if I had a crop in the ground and it was destroyed by the flood,  I would be upset or something.  But I don't, so I am able to enjoying the amazing way nature paints the landscape with water. Beautiful isn't really a strong enough word.

We weathered the storms with little to no real damage.  Nothing major happened.  The area near the creek was completely washed out. All the weeds and small trees blocking our view of the creek has been washed away.  It's like a fresh start.

In the middle of our field, we now have a small lake.  I know it won't last, but for now, its beautiful.  In a few days, if the rain stops, it will soak into the ground and not be seen again until the next storm.

I am now thinking about using this area of the field to build our natural pool.  It seems to be the place where the water wants to live.  I was thinking about building a 350'x50' pool on the backside of the farm.  But now I am re-thinking that idea.  It should live here.  In the middle of the farm.  Acting as a water collection point and a home for the ducks.

A very strange and amazing thing is also happening on the farm. Once the rains started, thousands of frogs have somehow crawled up out of the ground and have started to mate.  At night you can hear them singing to each other.
